- TCP
Releases The Way on 10T Records
ATLANTA,
Georgia February 25, 2009 (10T Records) 10T Records is proud to announce
the pending release of the debut full length CD release by TCP, entitled
The Way on April 21, 2009, with a retail street date following on May
19th.
TCP is a project based around the collaborative spirits of Henry
Tarnecky - vocals [Pennsylvania, USA], Blake Tobias - keyboards, bass
[New York, USA], and Jack Wright - guitars, drums [Maryland, USA]. On
their debut CD they are joined by a variety of special guests who help
to forge the unique TCP sound, blending elements of classic-era
progressive rock with a healthy dose of modern sensibility. Totaling
over 70 minutes, the eleven tracks that make up The Way showcase the
bands dynamic blend of dark, melodic vocals with extended instrumental
interplay as layers of soaring guitar and keyboard passages lock into a
solid foundation of shifting and complex rhythms.
When the music you've put your heart and soul into is now in someone
else's hands, it's a huge act of trust and confidence, says founding
member Blake Tobias. Steve and Jeff of 10T have shown they deserve that
trust. TCP is proud to be associated with 10T and among this family of
great artists. We're excited about the prospects of new and creative
things that Jeff and Steve bring to the table; feeling this is The Way.
We are always on the lookout for bands that embody the 10T Records
philosophy of adventurously reaching forward, says 10T Records president
Steve Carroll. When we first listened to TCP we instantly knew this was
a band that fit us like a glove, while being unlike any other artist on
our roster. We couldn't be happier to be in a position to expose the
rest of the world to what TCP has to offer.
The Way by TCP is available for immediate pre-order through the 10T
Records website. All orders received between now and the official
release date will ship by the end of the week prior to the official
release. Additionally, selected tracks from The Way are available to
preview in their entirety through the 10T Records website:

"An absolute gem of a record if that is your idea of turntable
entertainment happens to consists of a 40 plus minute spectacle
wherein every worthwhile pop manoeuvre of say the last forty
years along with the addition of several kitchen sinks is
shoehorned into the finite and hotly wired grooves that harness
these 8 rollicking treats."
Mark Barton (Losing Today/The Sunday Experience, UK)
"Fun Machine's music is accessible and catchy. It sounds
familiar and yet new and refreshing. It is well played, cleverly
composed and a delight to listen to."

- Satellite
“Nostalgia”
Satellite’s
new album entitled “Nostalgia” was released on
the past Monday, 23rd February (in USA on 10th March). The band’s
fourth album is their most mature offering so far. The music is a
combination of the sound of the 70’s with the modern 21st century
sound. The lyrics relate to each other in a loose manner - they're
about coming to terms with the past, about the need for a change,
starting anew, distancing oneself to one's own past. At the same
time, ironically, the music on "Nostalgia" manifests a longing for
the mood of the 70's and 80's.
Metal Mind
Productions is receiving first reviews of "Nostalgia" and so far
they are all very enthusiastic as the one done by Bob McBeath for
one of the most influential prog websites:
www.progarchives.com. The
journalist gave the album 5 of 5 stars:
“As the opening
fanfare of the 9 minute "Every desert got its ocean" bursts
confidently forth we are immediately reassured that the band have
lost none of their passion and energy. The structure of the song is
reminiscent of Yes during their "Fragile" days, with a powerhouse
sound supporting symphonic keyboards and virtuoso lead guitar. Even
the vocals have a retro feel to them, the overall result being a
wonderful blend of neo-prog and classic symphonic prog.
(…)
This is an easy album for me to enjoy and to recommend. This is
my sort of music to begin with. The fact that the album contains
such fine examples of the style simply renders it indispensable in
my book. With this their fourth album, Satellite have established
themselves as the current leaders in their field and raised the bar
a bit higher in the process. Those who enjoy their prog most when it
has plenty of lead guitar, lush keyboard sounds, and most
importantly supreme melodies are advised to indulge in a little
"Nostalgia" without delay.”

review is available in this location:

- Tinyfish
DVD Shoot
British band Tinyfish have recently shot their first DVD during their
appearance at the first edition of the progressive rock festival,
Progrock 2009, which took place in Katowice, Poland on 16-17 February.
The fantastic stage at the Wyspianski Theatre has witnessed live shows
of many important bands like Pendragon, Credo, Final Conflict, SBB,
Satellite, Arena, Landmarq, Galahad, and Caamora to name a few. The
shows at the theatre are acquiring a cult status among the fans of
progressive rock, but also among the Artists themselves - the Wyspianski
Theatre turned out to be not only a convenient place for such shows but
also a very atmospheric, magical place.

Tinyfish is a four
piece band based in South London with a deep and abiding interest in all
forms of progressive music. The group formed in 2005 as part of an
informal collective of musicians who enjoyed playing the acoustic open
mic spots of London. Although profoundly influenced by the UK
progressive scene, the band were keen to break from as many of the
traditional prog clichés as possible. “I would die of boredom if I
thought we were just recycling the songs and sound of the 70’s” said
lead singer and songwriter Simon Godfrey. To that end, Tinyfish chose to
write and perform without the aid of a keyboard player, using guitar
synths, electronic percussion and a myriad of special effects to obtain
their distinctively melodic sound. ‘It forces us to think differently
and keep away from musical comfort zones’ adds lyricist Robert Ramsay.
The band’s self-titled debut album from 2006 received enthusiastic
reviews from worldwide media and brought them many devoted fans… 2008
saw the band sign to respected UK progressive label F2 Records. Their
first release for the label was a rarities mini-album called “Curious
Things”. The band have also begun work upon on their new album “The Big
Red Spark”.
2009 appears to be a busy time for the band, with a live album and “The
Big Red Spark” to be released this year as also a DVD having been filmed
in Poland by Metal Mind Productions. The footage documenting Tinyfish’s
great concert at the Wyspiański Theater will feature a selection of the
band’s best songs taken from their previous releases as well as of the
tracks which will appear on their forthcoming album.
You can see additional photos on MMP’s official website:

The release of the as yet untitled DVD is scheduled for early July. More
details will be revealed as the work on the DVD progresses.

- MANDRAKE
PROJECT – signs worldwide deal with BLISTERING RECORDS
Swedish-American
cooperative Blistering Records, in conjunction with Overneath Music
proudly announce the signing of the chamber rock ensemble Mandrake
Project. The buzz-worthy anticipation of their new recording A
Miraculous Container will expand to a global audience this March.
This
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based group redefines many hip genre tags
through its unorthodox marriage of lush, delay drenched guitars,
intricate world rhythms and unusual instrumentation. Lunging
effortlessly from heady Floydian arrangements, crystalline Buckley-esqe
anti-pop, and haunting waltzes, the songs within the A Miraculous
Container manage such transitions without breaking trance. Too confident
to shoe-gaze and perhaps not image conscious enough for the hipster
underground, these things matter not to the dedicated
multi-instrumentalists who comprise Mandrake Project's cast of talent.
These genre-defying gentlemen draw love from across the categorical
spectrum. Mercurial in nature, by the time you've placed your finger on
the pulse of this unique lot, they've altered the tempo and
fast-forwarded to the next chapter without notice or interruption. They
combine choice elements of classical, jazz, psychedelic, world and
ambient rock to form their warm, timeless hybrid. The underlying
adhesive that cements such seemingly disparate art forms is the
trademark Mandrake Project "cinematic" approach to songwriting. A
Miraculous Container plays like the award winning soundtrack to the best
movie you've yet to see...or produce! True to the spirit of this ongoing
interactive rock collective, you must provide the imagery for these
imaginary films internally. Mandrake Project simply melts into the
background orchestrating the score while the credits roll. Although the
music maintains its presence heavy on the instrumental playing field,
the vocal tracks find their way into a number of scenarios painted by
ornate backing fanfare. This recording holds court in an atmosphere that
perpetually caters to the true listener.
