I
think CF is going for Gordian Knot, Sigur Ros or Porcupine Tree. The
problem is those listed might be a big dark abyss as opposed to walls of
sound - but they have breadth to compliment the depth, and that’s what
makes them alluring.
While “circles” is done well, it’s flatter than a pancake in places and
what’s more; its radius is awfully tight. Most fans will need more
Turbinado or Taurine than this to get them through their workout or
commute, or they’ll have to get skinny enough to squeeze through this
svelte hole.
So it’s not bad for background music but if you’re a progressive rock
fan like me; you’ve already got those bases covered tenfold. So much so,
it’s become a running joke.
As I’ve journeyed from amateur journalist to full-fledged critic, I must
be fair and honest. Still, it pains me to see hard and polished work
that I cannot support.
In spite of this, if you are determining the urgency of this purchase,
like a true Chinese fire drill, there is no cause for alarm (just as
much as there is no need to avoid it).
6.75/10
